Another Adventure Begins

On Sunday, April 27th, Robin and I depart Calgary for a 2 month holiday in France followed by a one week bike trip in the Bordeaux region and an 8 day tour of Morocco.

We fly into Amsterdam then onward to Paris where we are spending 4 days staying in the Latin Quarter. We love Paris and we know that no matter how many times one has visited, there are always new places and neighbourhoods to discover along with spending some time in familiar places.

On May 1st we will catch the TGV (High speed train) to Nice, which is a 5 hour trip. Some may recall that we spent a month in Nice last year at the same time, and we so enjoyed the area, we decided to return. We have rented the same apartment as we had last year for the month of May.

At the end of May we fly to Bordeaux where we have rented a one bedroom apartment near the old town. We are looking forward to discovering this area in depth. In past years we have driven through this area, but never spent enough time to discover it. We are very pleased that our son Rich and our daughter in law, Lisa have rented an apartment in Bordeaux for a week, so we are looking forward to touring with them. Robin's sister Suzanne and her husband Colin, will also come over from England for a few days at the end of June.

On June 28th we are starting a one week bike trip in the Bordeaux area, and we will be joined by Terry and Billie, Robin's twin brother and his wife. We are doing a self guided bike trip in the area and staying in small towns along the way. It is a circular tour ending back in Bordeaux.

At the end of the bike trip, Robin and I will fly to Casablanca from Bordeaux and start our 8 day tour of Morocco. The main highlights of this tour are Casablanca, Rabat, Volubilis, Fez, Meknes and Marrakech. Morocco has been on our list of places to visit and we decided as we were so close that this was an opportunity to travel there. As many of you know, Robin and I are normally independent travelers, making plans as we go along. We have decided to try a tour through Peregrine, a company that some of our friends have used. We are contemplating South and East Africa next year and we feel that this trip will be done through a company and not independently.

It is always nice to hear from friends and family when we are away for such a long period of time, so please do not hesitate to comment on the blog or send e-mails.

We feel truly blessed that we are in good health and are able to continue our travels to familiar and new locations.

  2. Very interesting how you guys move around with seemingly such ease and your written snapshots of places like Amsterdam, Paris & Prague bring back good memories to us. Gail & I are both in good health and next week Saturday will be going to watch Les blues VS the Wallabies in Melbourne - Robin is a keen rugby man. We try to get away for "escape" weekends around Victoria - "escape" means baby sitting!! . Plan to go to Chile / Easter island in October 2014 for just over two weeks, NZ - Auckland & Rotorua in March'15 and veg out on a Fijian Island next October '15 for slightly over a week in both cases..
We will probably try to fit in some other activities in between these dates. So you are our continued inspiration - but not walking as much perhaps, Love Tim & Gail.
